New shape mask not showing ovels or handles, cant move/change it

This is very odd. Used Shape masks a lot of times. Today I added one and it did not show the ovels or handles to change it. Nothing happened. I tried raising the mid-tones and it worked, I just cant move it or change it as the controls do not exist. Tried restarting FCP X, no joy;(.
